Pink Starburst: Strawberry Lemon Smoothie

Hi lovelies!

Happy Thursday! I hope your week has been going well & filled with smiles! :)

I've been busy in the kitchen cooking up some good stuff as well as fails. It's all gucci though because it's all about experimentation! One failure just means one step closer to success~~ ;)

Today, I'm going to teach you how to make a simple healthy & delicious drink that will cool you down this hot summer. If you're a lover of sour and sweet, you're bound to enjoy this drink! && No lie, this drink will remind you of pink starbursts~!

If you still need any more reasons to make this drink, here are the healthy benefits:

Strawberries - In addition to being fiber- & vitamin- packed, these sweet red gems help burn stored fat, boost short term memory, ease inflammation, lower cardiovascular disease, promote bone health, prevent cancer, and promote healthy vision. They're also filled with anti-aging compounds, biotin, which helps benefit strong hair and nails, and antioxidants, which protects the elastic fibers in our skin.

Lemon - We all know lemons are rich in vitamin C, but did you also know that it can cure constipation by acting as a blood purifier? Another benefit lemons provide is control of high blood pressure because it contains potassium!

Honey - As mentioned in my Coco-Nutty Energy Bars recipe, this sweet nectar contains many health benefits such as anti-bacterial & anti-fungal properties, blood sugar regulation, natural throat relief, gastrointestinal disease relief, and cancer and heart disease prevention.

Greek yogurt - Ever since I've discovered Greek yogurt, I've never bought regular yogurt again. Why? Because Greek yogurt contains twice the amount of protein compared to regular yogurt, it can keep you fuller for a longer period of time. It also contains probiotics, which promotes digestive health and enhances your immune system.

Pink Starburst: Strawberry Lemon Smoothie

Ingredients:
8-10 frozen strawberries
1/4 cup honey lemon mixture*
1/2 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
1 tbsp honey
1/4 cup milk

Directions:
1. Blend all ingredients in a blender.

Garnish with a strawberry & lemon slice and enjoy!

Makes 1 serving

Side Notes:
*Honey Lemon Mixture - Fill a jar with lemon slices and add enough honey just to cover the slices. I like to make a bulk of this in a jar and keep it in the fridge. My mom and I usually mix a big spoonful with hot water in the morning. It's great for sore throats & your health in general!

+ This drink was approved by my buddy Moises!

Moises: "Who needs Jamba Juice's secret menu when you got this instead!"

What's your favorite summer drink? :)

Enjoy!
